Most sex therapists define premature ejaculation
as occurring when ejaculatory control interferes
with sexual or emotional well-being of one
or both partners. Some sex therapists have
defined premature ejaculation as occurring
when a man ejaculates within two minutes of
penetration. In another, it has been defined
as men who ejaculation before his sex partner
achieves orgasm. However, a study has found
that the vast majority of men ejaculate within
two minutes of penetration. Premature ejaculation
is a widespread issue among men and affects
about 40 %. This can promote feelings of shame
and of being a poor lover, feeling upset,
or even blaming the other partner which can
deteriorate a relationship.
Premature ejaculation can be influenced by
psychological and physical factors. Misconceptions
and poor sex education play a major role.
One thing to keep in mind, a women generally
takes 20 minutes to achieve orgasm. If a man
reaches orgasm within 2 minutes, plan approximately
15 minutes of foreplay to satisfy a women
properly. Another is that women can reach
orgasm 8 times to every one that a man has.
So take your time and enjoy foreplay. Reading
the section on How to Stimulate the Female
G Spot could be helpful.

| Psychological Factors |
|
| |
Psychological factors commonly
contribute to premature ejaculation. Premature
ejaculation can be caused by depression, stress,
unrealistic expectations about performance or
an overall lack of confidence. Personal dynamics
strongly contribute to the sexual function,
and can be caused by a lack of communication
between partners, hurt feelings, or unresolved
conflicts that interfere with the ability for
sexual satisfaction. While men sometimes underestimate
the relationship between sexual performance
and emotional well-being, premature ejaculation
can also lead to other forms of sexual dysfunction
or intensify an existing problem, such as ED
by creating performance anxiety. |
| Physical |
|
| |
One cause of premature ejaculation is lack
of muscular control of the pelvis region.
In essence, once the ejaculation process begins,
not being unable to stop or delay the ejaculation
process is the problem .
The physical process of ejaculation requires
two sequential actions: emission and expulsion.
Emission phase is the first. It involves deposition
of seminal fluid from the vas deferens, seminal
vesicles, and prostate gland into the posterior
urethra. The second phase is the expulsion
phase. It involves closure of the bladder
neck, followed by the rhythmic contractions
of the urethra by pelvic-perineal muscle,
and intermittent relaxation of external urethral
sphincters.
It is believed that serotonin plays a central
role in modulating ejaculation. Therefore,
it is perceived that low level of serotonin
in specific areas in the brain could cause
premature ejaculation.
Sympathetic motor neurons control the emission
phase of ejaculation reflex, and expulsion
phase is executed by somatic and autonomic
motor neurons. These motor neurons are located
in spinal cord and are activated in a coordinated
manner when sufficient sensory input has reached
the ejaculatory threshold
Premature ejaculation may be a consequence
of a imbalance of sexual energy in the pelvic
musculature, which prevents the diffusion
of such energy to other parts of the body.

| Misconceptions & Sexual Education
|
|
| |
There are many misconceptions or misunderstanding
about what sexual intercourse is all about
and how to interact with your partner in order
to achieve sexual satisfaction and interpersonal
harmony. Parents, schools and peers provided
limited and sometimes misleading information.
Too much emphasis is placed on personal sexual
satisfaction versus the love between two people.
Generally, it seems like a man's goal is to
ejaculate as quickly as possible versus the
sexual and emotional well-being of both partners
Generally a women takes 20 minutes to achieve
orgasm and the vast majority of men ejaculate
within two minutes of penetration. Then the
man will ejaculate before the women is properly
aroused. If a man reaches orgasm this quickly,
obviously, the women could remain unsatisfied.
Plan on at least approximately 15 minutes
of love making to properly stimulate a women
before having sexual intercourse.

| Treatment |
|
| |
In addition, little educational material
is available on how to develop some kind of
control over when a man ejaculates. Information
regarding simple techniques and exercises
to control when ejaculation occurs are concealed
or are not readily available and treated like
some taboo.
In some cases, treatments are focused on
gradually training and improving mental habituation
for sexual physical development of stimulation
control. In clinical cases, various medications
are being tested to help slow down the speed
of the arousal response.

| Summary |
|
| |
Premature ejaculation is not the end of the
world. Sexual intercourse should not be the
center disappointment. If it happens, take
it with humor not failure and continue with
the love making. Communicate with your partner
the sensations that might have caused it so
you can take appropriate actions to avert
it in the future. Be patient as you want to
learn how to be in an aroused state without
ejaculating. Practice a lot, practice, practice,
practice.
Be imaginative and try something different.
Maybe have your partner reach their orgasm
first. Since we know that a large percentage
of women only achieve orgasm through oral
sex and that women can achieve 8 orgasms to
each one of a man, try oral sex first. She
should be ready to go again after a short
period. Use creams, change positions, whatever.
The ejaculation process is somewhat automatic
in men. In order to change this process, men
have to learn how to control it or change
the timing behavior. The exercises will take
time and practice to learn. First, you have
to learn the signal of an imminent ejaculation.
Then you have to determine which technique
is best for you. The pelvic exercise should
be done in either case to strengthen the pelvic
muscles. However, whether you employ the Start/Stop
or Squeeze technique is something you should
arrange with your partner.
Sexual intercourse should be a pleasurable
experience and not one of failure. Work with
your partner to find what works best for you.
Together, you can have great sexual relations
and a fantastic experience.
